Social inclusion and social justice
Local Level associates have been working on issues of social inclusion and social justice since the mid-1980s. Our particular strengths include sensitivity to the complexities of exclusion at the most local level; and insights into the ways people can become empowered, for example through access to information and communication channels and technologies.
Key pieces of work
Young people looked after: their involvement in museum-based activities
In 2010-2011 we carried out a pioneering evaluation of the involvement of young people looked after in museum-based activities. The case study museums were all in the east of England, with the research being funded by Renaissance East of England. The report is available here and a summary here.
Policy statement for CILIP
In 2009-2010 we worked with CILIP, the association for library and information professionals, to develop policy statements on community development and social justice for their members.
Race inequalities and cohesion
In 2010 we worked with Alison Gilchrist Associates on a review of race inequalities and community cohesion, for Community Development Foundation.
Disability Law Service
We designed and ran a workshop for staff and trustees at Disability Law Service, to help the organisation reshape itself in order to survive a potentially damaging reduction in funding over the next few years.
