Imaginative approaches
Involving people in issues that affect their lives can seem ‘worthy’ and dull. Local Level has a tradition of imaginative approaches that involve more participants, give them confidence, and give them something to talk about.
We have developed a wide range of workshop processes and games that help people to explore issues and find their own solutions collectively.
In 2008 we designed a treasure hunt as part of the consultation on the refurbishment of Manningham Library in Bradford. The process was
· intergenerational
· multicultural
· conversational
· informative
· and fun.
The process allowed people to contribute ideas and suggestions in an informal way while finding out about the proposed plans. We augmented the treasure hunt with a text-based web consultation. The exercise is reported here.
